Bringing all together the distinguished nursing experts, scholars, leaders and clinical nurses across international, national, regional and local arena to leverage the vital roles and significant contributions of nurses within the healthcare system and to address global health challenges makes me proud and honoured to welcome all our guests and participants to the Second International Nursing Conference hosted by King Saud University Medical City (KSUMC), Riyadh Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This conference is under the patronage of His Excellency Prof. Badran A. Alomar, King Saud University President and Prof. Ahmad S. Hersi, KSUMC Chief Executive Officer. The collective efforts of the Nursing community at KSUMC in the filtration and selection of research/ project abstracts assured the optimal presentations of exceptional evidence-based nursing practices and innovations. Indeed, we are inspired by the theme of the conference which states "Transforming The Future We Envision: Disrupt, Innovate, and Celebrate. It is in alignment with the Saudi Arabia Vision 2030 for Healthcare. The theme implies that the roadmap to achieve excellence in the Nursing Profession is to disrupt the status quo as not to settle for anything less. A culture of change through innovations, research and utilization of best evidence-based practices must be established and sustained to achieve the kind of transformation that we envisioned. Furthermore, the adaptation and enculturation of International Standards that will result to positive outcomes and increased satisfaction of the beneficiaries deserve a time to celebrate the triumphs.

Moreover, the conference serves as a venue for sharing of scientific knowledge, showcasing the operational nursing innovations and facilitate networking that can be utilized in the development of a comprehensive and effective health services as well as promote the value of the nursing profession in particular. I encourage our guests and participants to take advantage of this rare opportunity to maximize their learnings and insights in this era of COVID-19 that placed a limit in organizing this kind of event. I also wish our participants coming from other countries to enjoy and experience the hospitality of Saudi Arabian culture and heritage, to visit the beautiful tourist spots of the Kingdom.
